Xavier’s Patna supports Mission One Crore Trees

Patna: It’s part of the holistic education concept. St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Patna organized a tree plantation programme on their campus this week to support the “Mission One Crore Tree” movement started by the Hindi newspaper group Dainik Jagaran.

Digha MLA Sanjay Chaurasia, principal Reverend Dr. T. Nishant S.J, Vice Principal Reverend Martin Poras S.J, Controller of Exams Reverend Raymond Cherubim S.J along with faculty members  planted Coral Wood, Putranjeevi, Seesham, Jamun and Neem trees in the college.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Chaurasia said to reduce pollution we should plant more trees. “This movement is being celebrated as a festival in Bihar and it is to keep our state free from pollution. We should inspire our family and society to plant more trees and if each one around us plants one tree then we can achieve our mission,’’ he added. He also suggested an idea that every family should plant a tree during family functions like birthdays and anniversaries.

Rev. Martin Poras SJ said since the beginning of society, trees have been the backbone of human life. They support life with food, medicine and shelter.

St Xavier’s College Principal Father Dr. T. Nishant S.J thanked the Dainik Jagaran team for starting such a wonderful mission.

Senior reporter of Dainik Jagaran Neeraj said 43 lakh trees have been planted till date. Also present were Vishal Jha, Neeraj and Roshan from Dainik Jagaran.

    Agree! Trees are essential for life.we should adore trees because they create the very air we breathe and filter air pollution. Trees are the blessings to children yet unborn.
