Mother Teresa International Film Festival from next month

Meghalaya will host a 4-day film festival titled ‘Mother Teresa International Film Festival (MTIFF)’ based on the life and teachings of noble laureate Mother Teresa from September 6 to 9 in Shillong.

To be organized by the SIGNIS : the World Catholic Association for Communication’s as a mark of the canonization of Mother Teresa, the film festival will be kicked off from Kolkata on August 26 after which it will travel to around 50 other countries, including the UK, Italy, Australia, Thailand, Myanmar and China. Over 20 films and documentaries will be screened during the festival. The Festival will travel around the globe from September 5, 2016 to September 4, 2017

MTIFF 2016 North East India Director Fr Francis Stephen addressed the media on Monday in Shillong and said that they would present the best and films and documentaries made on the noble laureate and inspired by her life. He said that the objective of the film festival is to promoting the message of peace, love and service through the life of Mother Teresa.

Over 25,000 people are expected to attend the 4-day festival with Fr Stephen informing that more than 800 free passes per show are available. The Fifth World, Revelation in Kolkata, Precious Love and My Karma are some of the films to be screened during the festival. Fr Stephen also appealed to the specially-abled and students to attend the festival.

The festival will also be held at Jowai, West Jaintia Hills District on September 14 to 17 and then move on to other states of the NE region.

The other Indian cities were the film will be showcased include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Udaipur, Guwahati, Patna, Indore, Ranchi and four cities of Kerala.
