Lessons from ‘Gold & Copper’

Lessons from ‘Gold & Copper’

Sir

I would like to share my view points on the film ‘Gold and Copper’ which I have watched recently.  Gold and copper is an Iranian film directed by Homayoun Assadian. The film is well made, with excellent camera work, editing, and fine performances.

Gold and Copper film presents the daily life struggles and happiness of a family. It gives me the clear picture of the present day society and its happenings. The film shows about  Iranian  tradition and middle class lifestyle but I feel it is very much similar to our Indian culture too. The places and the surroundings are of no difference in comparison with India. The film focuses on the patriarchal society.

The protagonist acts very responsibly in her household works and her husband  too plays an important role in doing his duties faithfully. But unfortunately wife suddenly gets sick and her conditions becomes very bad that she needed to be admitted in the hospital. It was quite a tough time for the husband to do all the house hold works but he never gives up. He does all the works, like taking care of the children as well as preparing food for them and then to prepare them to go to the school. This is his most crucial moment in life because he always depended on his wife.

When the wife is admitted in the hospital the neighbors show concern towards him. He receives support, and encouragement to move on in life. While watching this film I really admire the will power of a husband to take risk to do all the works by himself. This film is the description of the love relationship of the protagonists but unfortunately this emotion of love towards each other has not been shown to the audience. Most probably they are quite closed in themselves.

For me personally, this film teaches to strive towards my goal knowing that the journey of life has both ups and downs. It gives me an inspirations and an encouragement to be ready to withstand life as it comes on its way. It boosts me up with hope and confidence. So eventually this film was in fact worth watching and is quite effective.

it’s really a nice theme on which the producer has laid stress on.It also highlights the plight of family which can be refereed to our Indian families. I fully agree on this that we need to strive on and never give up.
