Talking Silk

Sir

NHDC (National Handloom Development Corporation) is an initiative of Textile Ministry of India for promoting Handloom in India. It is headed by Textile Minister Smt.Smriti Irani and managed by Mr.Sarwapalli Srinivas.

NHDC is taking an initiative to promote handloom and silk fabrics as they have lost their charm in last few years. At present there is an exhibition going on in the Constitutional Club of India, New Delhi. In which there are varieties of sarees live Pochampalli Silk, Kanjeevaram Silk, Banarasi Sarees, Madubani painting sarees and suits from different parts of the country like Karnataka, Orissa, Bihar etc. This Exhibition will be carried till 27th Oct, 2016. Specialties of the clothes in the Silk Fab Exhibition are that they are handmade and they are exclusively designed. There are also wedding collections as Wedding season is approaching. There are 110 stalls of sarees, suits, stoles, duppatas and dress materials. The price range of the clothes  is Rs600-Rs 15000

.It is one stop shopping place for ladies this festive season. Motive of this exhibition is to promote and encourage the weavers who sometimes fail to sale their products; from this exhibition they get more exposure and good price for their products.

It is a proud moment for Bihar that their art is liked by the people outside the state. Madhubani painting sarees and Bhagalpuri silk sarees are liked by many visitors coming to exhibition. NHDC is also taking an initiative to connect handloom and silk weavers with e-commerce. As silk and handloom weavers are not able to sale their product online, their products don’t get much attention and sometimes get ignored.

Yours truly,
