Can you think of life without water?

Can you think of life without water?

Sir

Water is the basic need for every creature whether  animal or human being. We cannot think of surviving without water but the sad fact is that there is about only three percent of fresh water in the world and the rest is in the form of ice and glaciers.

This everyday increasing population and the rising standards of life have increased the demand for water. For India, the main source of water has always been rivers which depend on rainfall. This year in India, we faced the worst drought in the central region and the reason for this is our own activities.

We human beings have been cutting down trees, leading it to global warming. This has resulted in drought.

On this World Water Day (22 March), the Central water Commission revealed that water levels at Indian reservoirs are at 71 percent those  of last year.

Scarcity of water is not the only problem that we have to deal with. Another major problem including is the water  available as fresh water is now polluted. Availability of safe drinking water is still a struggle for many people . More than 100 million people live in areas where water is severely polluted. This leads to many diseases and health issues Our own Patna is also struggling with this problem.

However, some people are aware of this major issue. The first step to resolve this problem is not wasting single drop of water and using water judiciously. We need to spread awareness and there is also a need to change our habits (e.g brushing our teeth with water flowing from tap, taking bath in a shower) so that we have a safer tomorrow.

Yours truly
