Beautiful Bihar – Beacon Burning Brightly, but how?

Beautiful Bihar – Beacon Burning Brightly, but how?

Bihar is a state with a rich heritage.

It has many good things that can remembered like  the ancient university Nalanda. The first president of India Mr Rajendra Prasad was from Bihar. It saw the birth of Buddha, Mahavir, Chanakya (father of Economics), Valmiki (wrote Ramayana, the greatest epic), Ashoka (greatest ruler), Aryabhatt (great ancient mathematician)etc. Bihar also contributed the  Ashoka Chakra to the National Flag.

During Vedic period Bihar was the centre of trade and culture. Magadha, Vaishali, Mithila/Videha, Anga, Sakyapradesh, Vijji, Janaka were the major kingdoms.

And also that Patna has the world’s longest Wi-Fi range of 20kms which is in Bihar.

Litti-chokha is famous food in Bihar and Chatt is being celebrated from vedic time. After having all these qualities Bihar is being ranked at the bottom on all most all human indicators.

Bihar Diwas or Bihar Day is observed every year on March 22, marking the formation of the state of Bihar.  It is also called Bihar Sthapna Diwas. It was on this day when the British carved out the state from Bengal Presidency in 1912. The Day is a public Holiday in Bihar. Bihar Divas was started and celebrated on large scale by Bihar Government in the tenure of Nitish Kumar

On this eve I met some Bihari people to know their view son what three steps that the Bihar governments should take to make it  a developed state.

Gaurav Anand, a student of St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology  said “It should 1. improve the quality of education in government funded schools and higher educational state –run institutes. (Specially in the remote rural areas) 2.it should create a conducive environment for new business and industries to open up weather state-run or privately owned. Its actions should encourage the MNC’s and business ventures from outside the state to set up their units in the state. 3. it should employ e-governance and should make everything online to allow a transparency in the government system and minimize corruption. And lift the liquor ban.

Nitin, a student from A.N College said “ Government should promote literacy, employment’ and lift the liquor ban.

Neerja Lal, Head of Department of Mass Communication of  St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology said “ Government should Concentrate on rehauling the 1.education system 2. Garbage disposal system, provide civic amenities. 3. Work towards  cleaner societies.

Surbhi Goyal, a student from Patna Women’s College said “Government should promote women safety and adequate representation in governmental institutions, building infrastructure, and should take steps in making it a pollution free state.

Rupam Bharti a student from St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology said “ 1. It should open government run class education centres and training facilities 2. For the sake of women empowerment, Women should be trained in such a way to respect themselves on the other hand government should make sure both men and women get same opportunity and respect in society which will lead to bridge the gap between male and female dignity. 3. government should make sure each and every citizen is employed (opening new industries and letting personal business expand) for educated or a totally illiterate person working as labour,as when everyone will be capable to earn his/her livelihood, then there is a change to decrease crime.

As Bihar has a massive population and the highest density at per square kilometre. It has many good qualities but still it is not a developed state and to make it as a developed state its citizens and government needs to come together for its brighter future.
