Nonviolence Project Foundation: now in India!

“We cannot speak of the future if we don’t allow the young people to talk today!”

The Nonviolence Foundation (NVF), a worldwide peace education organization, now in India and other 30 countries in five continents, is moved by and acknowledges the unbroken nonviolence tradition of India.

The culture of nonviolence and peace dates back to the Aum Shanti and Vasudeiva kutumbakam of the Vedas and Upanishads, Mahaveer Jain, GautamBudha, Ashoka the Great, Adishankara and his Advaita, Akbar, the great and the Sufi and Bhakti traditions.

All of these culminated in Mahatma Gandhi who has inspired non-violent movements in many countries. NVF is a continuation of these traditions.

NVF believes as Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development said in his address “None can stop India from becoming a superpower in nonviolence and peace.”
India became the 31st country to launch a national campaign on peace education. Honourable Dr Karan Singh, Member RajyaSabha, launched the Nonviolence Foundation in India. The organization is currently active in 30 countries, like Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, and Uganda. NVF brand of peace education engages with young people and trains them.

India became the first country to combine sustainability to peace education. NVF in India will operate through Peace Clubs of Sustainability.
NVF has trained eight million children in five continents on conflict resolution, self-esteem and of course nonviolence. The 9th million will come from India.
NVF has introduced a new form of peace parliament and peace assemblies. Called parliament of Saptarshis( seven sages) it has adapted the fishbowl methodology of initiating all discussions with seven “wise people” with the rest joining in after the seven have thoroughly discussed the issue. The discussions will be harvested by trained rapporteurs and focus on short (40 days), medium (400 days) and four thousand days (long-term).

Commenting on the peace parliament Amiri Hayat from Afganistansaid ” We cannot speak of the future if we do not allow the young people to talk today.

All discussions and actions of NVF will zero in on and be guided by the five Ps (People, Planet, Peace, Prosperity, and Partnerships) of sustainability.

5Ps also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognise that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.

(The Nonviolence Foundation, India chapter was inaugurated by Dr Karan Singh, Member Rajya Sabha in New Delhi on November 16 on the International Tolerance Day. Also present were Swami Sachidnanda Bharti and Prof Manmohan Singh Goyal, Vice Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development. Representing the NVF global was Ms Ivana the Education Director from Greece. Prof Marack from Arizona University represented the Global Network of Sustainable Development. Mr Augustine Veliath is the Chairperson of the Non Violence Foundation India and Mr BirendraSoni is the Chief Executive Officer. NVF master trainers in India represent all regions of India, North, South, East, West and the Northeast.)

Violence has many disadvantages for individuals, communities and even nations. So many people are killed or maimed due to physical violence at a large scale.Non-violence is important today because non-violence saves lives. This organisation can help in achieving non violence.

The way in which the truth being brutally harassed is indeed a provoking scenario. One must have the full fledged right to talk over the concurrent issues, make the statements over it and tend to get is implemented and accepted by the masses. This sense must be promoted.

The introduction of non violence foundation in India ,will be beneficial for the country. Because if people are not involved in violence ,than they will concentrate in developing the country. Violence can not give anything, it can only hut people’s sentiment and destroyes the unity of the country. On the other hand non violence unites the country .
