World Music Day: 21st June


The World Music Day is celebrated on 21 June every year, the longest day of the year that is summer solstice. It is celebrated in different ways in different parts of the world. It is also known as Fete de la Musique. This beautiful festival initiated by France in 1982. The main aim behind this World Music Day is to bring peace to the world. It allows all musicians – amateur and professional to express themselves in the way they want to. This day is celebrated in more than 700 countries in over 120 countries today worldwide including India.
Many concerts are organised at different places, generally, the concerts are organised in open fields such as streets, parks, gardens, stadiums, stations or halls. Most of the concerts and performances are done for free, where musicians play for fun without any profit motive. On Music Day the citizens of a city or country are allowed to play music outside in their neighbourhoods or in public spaces and parks.
Musicians and singers celebrate the joy of music with people. In India, concerts are held across in almost all the cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Goa many other cities and towns.
Radio stations are also celebrating this day in a captivating way. Today,’ Radio City’, Patna is celebrating Music Day in significant style. The station or the Radio Jockeys are playing the music of all genres and making it accessible to the public.
Life would be impossible without music. Music helps us to overcome our stress and maintain our mood. If music is the food of life play on.
