BSNL crisis continues, employees yet to receive salaries

India’s oldest communication service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is facing a big crisis and the company is unable to give salary to its employees. Now BSNL is in debt of Rs.13,000 Crore.

The telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday, blamed stiff competition, high employee cost and no 4G services for the poor financial state of BSNL and MTNL.

As per the local news BSNL needs approximately Rs.850 Crore to give salaries to its employees and for it BSNL has applied for loan. BSNL also needs Rs.12,500 Crore for the survival of company after loan  it can approximately exist till 6 months; till date it has not received any loan.

Nowadays BSNL customers are facing problems with networks and they are switching over to another telecom companies providing the facilities of 4G network.

According to the local news, the rise of Jio 4G network in 2016 have drawn people towards it. Most of the public have stopped using their previous network and have switched toward Jio 4G (free voice call, messages, chats, video calls etc).

 News reports also say that BSNL’s infrastructure is also not good which leads to loss.

At one time BSNL earned profits of Rs.10,000 Crore in every year but in 2019 it’s survival is  under question mark.
