Is Patna ready for Metro?

Is Patna ready for Metro?

The construction of the most awaited metro is going to start after 3 months.  It will be a great step towards development of Bihar but the question is – Is Bihar ready for it? Which class is going to get the benefit? Will they be able to maintain the metro?

Metro construction is one of the most discussed topics in Patna. The planning commission of India approved the Patna metro plan 8 years back in 2011. The work was planned to be done in 4 phases.

In the recent article in Times of India it was the Patna metro rail work to begin in three months. It has been almost 8 years since the planning of Patna metro and still the work has not started.

Trains that ply in Patna are in bad condition. The railway authorities as well as the people both are responsible for it. The passengers boarding the train are unable to respect and maintain facilities provided to them. They spit anywhere, tear the seats, and steal things such as pillow, bed sheet etc. some people also steal the bolts and nuts of the track. Even some tracks are damaged because of lack of attention of the authority.

The question is if they are unable to maintain the things which they are already using from decades then how would they take care of metro?

Indore- Patna train was one of the major train accidents that took place recently. It killed almost 150 people. Local news mentioned the track was inspected and it was found in good condition. It remained unclear who made the mistake? There are other various train accidents that have happened in Patna.

Government is allotting a large amount of money for the maintenance of railways but the development can’t be seen by the people. Where is the money going, if it is not begin utilized in maintaining the railways?  Where and who is consuming the money?

The expenditure of Rs 13365.77 Crore is decided as estimated budget of the metro project. Metro project is also on a huge budget and what if anything like this will happen to the Patna metro as well.

Now, it is really crucial for the government to look after these gaps and stop corruption as well. We citizens also need to understand Government is doing its duty by providing facilities but we have to do our part by respecting it.

So,  now Metro is coming soon in Patna but are the people ready to maintain it and  to keep it in the same condition provided by the government or Will it be non functional soon or out of order?

First of all, non of the reporter or either big editors have the knowledge about the starting and ending of any government project…. Many times, we have seen that the ruling party announce a project and it is not carried forwad…. So as a media student everyone has to pay attention to each and every article that what is written…

This is a letter to the editor and this was written to just point out what is happening in regard of maintaining the facilities provided by the government and also as the headline state “is Patna ready for metro” it is just giving an opinion that if Patna is ready to accept and use metro in a functional manner. so, kindly take the post in the spirit it has been written.

It was very naive to question such things on an article written about “Is patna ready for metro? “. Though the headline contains the word “metro”, it is on a very different aspect saying that will people be respecting metro if it comes. And yes obviously first line shouldn’t be there.

    1) The first line is grossly misleading.
    2) the article too is very naively written, I was expecting some details on whether the construction can really begin in 3 months or would it, as usual, face further delays.
