New Delhi Covid-19 Inspection Team  in 3 NE States

The Central government is to  dispatch special medical teams to  Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur as these three North-eastern  States have been registering  a high number of COVID-19 positive cases.

The special medical teams are to evaluate the possible reasons the increase in the number of  of COVID-19 cases in these states.

The development has been confirmed by Tripura COVID-19 nodal officer – Dr Deep Debbarma on Friday.

He said that the medical team for Tripura will visit the State to review and assist the State in the fight against the pandemic.

“The special medical team from the Centre will visit Tripura. However, no official communication has been made yet. We are waiting for the team to visit and help us,” Debbarma said.

Apart from the three Northeast States of Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, central medical teams would also be sent to Kerala, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a statement informed that the Centre has been leading the fight against the pandemic with a ‘Whole of Government’ and ‘Whole of Society’ approach.

“As an ongoing effort to strengthen efforts of various State/UT Governments for COVID management, the Central Government has been deputing Central teams from time to time to visit various States/UTs,” the statement read.
