The former Chief Election Commissioner Quaishi had admitted that they have personal bonding and have tried to get married twice but because of some reason or the other they had to delay the wedding.
Mr. Quraishi was a student of St. Stephen’s and a 1971-batch IAS officer. Humra Quraishi, a journalist and columnist was his first wife and they are now divorced.
On the other hand, Ms. Sharma was a student of Gorakhpur University and the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi. She lost her husband during an attack by Maoists in western Nepal about 15 years ago.
A paper source also informed that the two were facing mild resistance from their family.
At present Quraisi is unwilling to speak about his impending marriage but the other family members have confirmed that the preparation of the marriage is at the last stages.
According to Quraishi’s family, the wedding will be soon and it will be a low-key affair.
