Sir,
I wish to draw the attention of the authorities and the people through Newsnet One to the importance of being smart or say being a part of the smart city panel list.
As we all know, Patna being a state capital is not listed for smart city development, for the simple reason that it is lacking basic amenities and hygiene. Patna has failed to fulfil the conditions of proper sanitation, Online Grievance Redressal System, displaying annual municipal budget expenditure info., etc laid out by the Ministry of Urban Development(MoUD) to qualify for the smart city challenge and it’s simply like slacking off when you get an opportunity to score.
A smart city can only flourish when its citizens play an active role in its evolution process. I think it’stime to start from the scratch and let Patna say “Let here be light”.
People must stand and fight for what belongs to them and what they believe in is right. Actually “the People” just need to fight against themselves, against their own habits like using (and abusing) plastics or other non-biodegradables as they cause a huge challenge to waste management, avoid wasting electricity etc.
Hence for a sustainable city, water, energy and waste management systems, the basic infrastructural necessities in addition to transportation should be a part of any constructive agenda.
And as they say, ‘Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration’. So if citizens and the administration do their bit, there is no doubt that we are gonna make it for sure !
Patna deserves to be better.
Yours Sincerely,
Arushi Jaiswal
