Cash crunching blues from Patna

Cash crunching blues from Patna

Demonetisation has affected all of us  very badly. In Patna, About 75% of ATMs are closed and the money finishes very fast in those  that are open.  At many places you see  people standing in line from early morning before ATMs open up . No more 24 hour service!

One of my relatives who is working in a diamond cutting unit in Surat  phoned me and told me that they are  not getting any work in his factory  as most of the  diamond cutting and polishing  units have been closed in Gujarat since November 8.

And also a lady in Patliputra named Lalita was threatened by her employer because she refused to take her black money and put it in her account. She asked her employer, “I have never put such a big sum in my bank account. Do you want me to go for seven years to jail?” Now her employer is angry with her.

I also came across a  rumour that people with black money are throwing it away  in the Ganga River because of the fear of getting caught!

But it is not that demonetisation has bought the problems only, it has also benefited people in a way.  It has made the people advance in buying material and has become a reason to promote digital marketing.

People are relying on Pay TM, internet and cheques to fulfil their needs and demands.  So there were some middle class people who were unaware of  the process of digital marketing; they got a chance to learn  the process and to walk into  the cashless world.

This move will surely make PM’s ‘Digitial India’ campaign successful.

Browsing through the Intern’s articles on Newsnet, I come across this callous comment. What do you mean, that the pain and anguish suffered by the poor will make your Prime Minister’s ‘Digital Dream’ successful? Are you saying that the Indian Prime Minister’s ‘Digital Dream’ that can be shared by only a fraction of the privileged, will be built on crushing the poor? Really insensitive comment! Are you ‘Trump’-eting your cause a bit too loudly?
