Every day is Human Rights Day!

Sir

On 10th December the world celebrated Human Rights Day. On this day many political conferences, meetings, exhibitions, cultural events, debates were organized to discuss all kinds of issues related to human rights. Several governmental, civil and non-governmental associations actively took part in the human rights day celebration.

Most of the programs held at this day are aimed to make people aware about their human rights. Some of the protest are also held in order to aware the people from areas where the people are unaware of human rights. This year the theme for human rights day celebration was ‘Stand up for someone’s right today’.

Although the human rights day is being celebrated since 1948,  the saddest part is that still more than 80 % of people are unaware of their human rights and those who are aware, they are only aware of their basic rights. Thus the human rights of many people are being violated every day.

Generally, the women, children, Backward Class People, illiterate and the poor are the ones whose rights are violated most of the time and as the time passes it becomes monotonous for them and they accept it as a reality of life.

So, it is very important that we celebrate human rights on every day by making people aware of their rights. Being a citizen we need to raise our voice against those who violate the rights of any individual. It is very important that we do not violate anyone’s rights because it is we who violate the rights of the others and thus there is a need for human rights day celebration.

Yours truly
