Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington hangs himself

Following Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell’s suicide, Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington  aged 41, has followed, LA County Coroner says.
The coroner said Bennington apparently hanged himself. His body was found at a private home in the county at 09:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Thursday.
Bennington was said to be close to Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who took his own life in May.
Formed in 1996, Linkin Park have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and won two Grammy Awards.

The band had a string of hits including Faint, In The End and Crawling, and collaborated with the rapper Jay-Z.

The music and entertainment world is mourning Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, who’s died at the age of 41.

Chester’s bandmate and friend, Mike Shinoda, tweeted that he was “shocked and heartbroken”.

The band’s debut Hybrid Theory remains one of the biggest selling albums of the millennium.

Tributes to the singer from across the musical spectrum have been paid on social media.

Linkin Park’s co-founder Mike Shinoda said an official statement from the band would be released soon.
