Annual Sports day held at Patna Womens’ College

On 29th November, Thursday Patna Womens’ College held its Annual Sports Day. Aakancha of Economics department (B.A III) was declared the fastest Athlete of Patna Womens’ College on its Annual Sports Day on Thursday. She won the 100 meter sprint. She was followed by Niki Kumari of History Department (B.A. II) was declared the Best Athlete. The event saw a large gathering of students their parents, teaching and non-teaching staff and alumnae of the institution. Prof. Rash Bihari Prasad Singh, Vice- chancellor, Patna University, was the chief guest on the occasion Prof. Dolly Sinha, Pro-Vice chancellor; Patna University was the guest of Honour. Col Manoj Mishra (Retd), Registrar Patna University, and Mrs. Smriti Singh, Head Coach of the Central Board of Cricket Ahmadabad (Gujarat Cricket Association), were the special guests.

The event on a bright winter morning, started with the hoisting of the College flag. It was followed by March Past and lighting the lamp. B.com (Group – B) was judged the best Marching Group.

Of the many events, Yogasana by B.A. 1st year & Shree Drill by Vocational 1st and 2nd years drew the maximum applause from the audience. While 100 meter Hurdle Race was won by Niki Kumari of History Department (B.A II), 200 meter Race was won by Akancha (B.A.-III). The 4 X 100 meter Class Relay was won by Akancha (B.A.-II), Aakancha (B.A.-III), Niki Kumari (B.A. II), Kiran (B.A.- I).

Earlier, in the welcome address, Principal Sister M. Rashmi, A.C., extended a warm welcome to all the esteemed guests. She said that sports are an integral part of our college. She expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his gracious presence in spite of his busy schedule. Pro Vice chancellor, Prof. Dolly Sinha was also welcomed along with the special guests Col Manoj Mishra, Registrar, Patna University and Mrs. Smriti Singh.”

Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest expressed his appreciated for holding the Annual Sports Day pre-schedule. He said sports are a continuous learning process and success lies in a disciplined life which sports teaches our students. At the same time, he urged the students of Patna Womens’ College to actively participate in the Patna University Elections and elect a proven leadership.

He appreciated and admired the Saree Drill performed by Vocational I and II students the most. At the end, he congratulated Patna Womens’ College for a grand success of the events.
