PATNA, Bihar:People living in Patliputra Colony, did you know that the 2011 census has a section exclusively devoted to you? Since I live in the Patliputra area, it was really interesting to read what the census says about Patliputra colony!
So here goes:
Patliputra Colony belongs to ward no.1 , Patna rural subdivision in Patna district.
Patliputra Housing Colony is a Census Town city in district of Patna, Bihar. The Patliputra Housing Colony Census Town has population of 3,531 of which 1,825 are males while 1,706 are females as per report released by Census India 2011.
Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 282 which is 7.99 % of total population of Patliputra Housing Colony (CT). Now that’s revealing! In every 100, there are eight little bawling, crawling, snotty nosed tykes!
In Patliputra Housing Colony Census Town, Female Sex Ratio is of 935 against state average of 918. Moreover Child Sex Ratio in Patliputra Housing Colony is around 763 compared to Bihar state average of 935. So, there are far more boys in well-to-do Patliputra, why the horribly skewered sex ratio, any guesses on that one?
The Literacy rate of Patliputra Housing Colony census town is 95.48 % , higher than state average of 61.80 %. In Patliputra Housing Colony, Male literacy is around 95.80 % while female literacy rate is 95.14 %. That means there are about 141 men and 177 women who cannot read and write in PP colony. Isn’t this something? Look at all the NGOs spouting about ‘education’ in the colony!
Patliputra Housing Colony Census Town has total administration over 761 houses to which it supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage. It is also authorize to build roads within Census Town limits and impose taxes on properties coming under its jurisdiction.
Out of the total population, 1,294 were engaged in work or business activity. Of this 956 were males while 338 were females. In census survey, worker is defined as person who does business, job, service, and cultivator and labour activity. Of total 1294 working population, 94.59 % were engaged in Main Work while 5.41 % of total workers were engaged in Marginal Work.
Of the total population of 3,531, the census records say (percentage wise) that there are 71.85 Hindu, 23.86 Muslim, 3.57 Christian, 0.59 Sikh and 0.14 Jains. As somebody who lives in the colony, it appears that Buddhists, Atheists, and others were too few to count, or maybe nobody actually asked everybody’s religion within the family.
Anyway, let’s not split hairs. It was interesting to know some things about Patliputra Colony, and to share them with you.
