The Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar almost received another flying slipper as an unwelcome gift when on Monday, a man from Arwal district supposedly attempted to shy his footwear at him. The fellow was arrested by the police.
The incident occurred when the man, who is Mr Nitish Kumar’s namesake, came to meet the CM and hand over his request at ‘Janata ke Darbar mein Mukhya Mantri’ programme.
Police say that the youth had created a ruckus earlier as well, at the
‘Janata Darbar’ programme of senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi held recently.
Why Arwal resident Nitish Kumar wanted to throw his footwear at the Chief Minister was not very clear, but officials said he was apparently angry over the state government’s recent advisory against use of open fires between 9 AM to 6 PM to curb.
As he bent down to take off his chappal, he was immediately caught by a posse of security men.
Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj told reporters the youth has been arrested and taken to SEcretariat police station for detailed questioning, the SSP said.
At ‘Janata ke Darbar mein Mukhya Mantri’ programme at the Chief Minister’s residence people present their grievances and the CM directs officials to initiate action.
