Sir
There is a lot of noise Meghalaya against making the Aadhar card mandatory and linking it with government schemes.
On the one hand, linking the Aadhar Card to the various government schemes is seen as a way to stop corruption. But what several local leaders in Shillong are saying is this: the Aadhar card is an invasion of privacy.
However, what is not being overtly articulated is this. Some fringe, hardline or fundamentalist Christian sects, who take to the reading of the Biblical scriptures in a literal way, are afraid that the Aadhar card is inspired by Satan. Meghalaya and other places in the Northeast have adequate numbers of such evangelical sects, who can make their presence felt both socially and even politically.
It is a symbolical ‘mark of the beast’, through which the Great Evil will seek to control the entire population. Need I say more?
So it is no surprise that there are several ‘politicians’ and ‘student leaders’ in the fray to support Thma u Rangli Juki member, Reverend K Pyrtuh seeking immediate revoking of the entire Aadhaar project of the Government of India on two grounds namely its cost and its attempt to intrude into the right of privacy of the citizens.
Yours Truly
