It is splendid that Blessed Mother Teresa was canonized as the Saint Teresa of Calcutta by Pope Francis on 4th September 2016.
We know that she was already a living saint during her life time on earth. She had a special heart for the poorest of the poor and the downtrodden.
She served them with love and compassion. She used to say “while I clean the wounds of the lepers I see the face of God, I feel pain in my heart and I remember the passion, death of Jesus Christ on the Cross”. Her good works and services were in every heart, so much that it could not be hidden any longer therefore she deserves to be canonized saint.
I feel privileged because I had the opportunity to visit Saint Teresa’s tomb twice in Kolkata. I felt serenity and deep joy within to reach that holy ground. It was very calm and peaceful moment to remain sometime in prayer with her.
I also had the experience of an exposure to work with Missionaries of Charity for two years. I, along with my seven companions used to visit ones in a week to Shishu Bhavan in Bangalore. We went there to become a part of that family to care for the disabled children. It was really a tough and challenging moments for me. I always admired sisters’ passion and love for the children.
Sisters were always exuberant to teach us how to care for those children and that helped me to persevere in those hard times. Sisters were extremely good and have taught me to be a loving, caring, and generous person. They are hard working, committed and passionate to give their whole life for the service of unwanted and downtrodden. I am greatly inspired and I cherish those moments in my life.
