NEWSNET ONE brings you the voice of the people: The Corruption trail in the Indian Railways is deep rooted. Rohit Jain posted on social media:
Met with someone today and was surprised to hear of how corruption is on in Railways. This person is somewhat related so I don’t want to share their location and name but here is the essence of what’s going on.
He has been awarded contract to run pantry in a super fast train. To keep that contact he has to pay 50000 a month to complaint redressal officers so none of the complaints against him go anywhere.
To recover this bribe money, he takes 10-15 people every day from north to south inside the pantry car. When there is checking, these passengers have to wear uniform given by him. He charges 500 on average making 5000 a day one way which amounts to 2.5-3 Lakhs a month.
When one of the complaints against him escalates, he has to pay another 50000-1 lakh to officers.
Like this he is happy that not only he is getting paid to run pantry, he is netting 1.5 to 2 lakhs a month.
Now this is at the cost of fooling common junta and using tax payers money to fill officers pockets. Who cares whether food is good or stale or dal has cockroaches.
If there is a network wide menace across 1500 trains then one can only imagine how much corruption is there.
