Amaravati, Apr 17 : The Andhra Pradesh Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) unearthed assets worth over Rs 6 crore belonging to a chief engineer,according to a PTI report
The accused, Bhumireddy Jagadishwar Reddy, currently working on deputation as chief engineer of AP Education Welfare and Infrastructure Development Corporation, has been arrested, ACB Director General R P Thakur said in a press release.
The officer belongs to Mahbubnagar district of Telangana.
The Central Investigation Unit of ACB discovered huge fixed and movable assets in Jagadishwar and his family and relatives’ names.
Some benami (proxy) properties were unearthed in Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar and other places, he said.
In all, raids were conducted on the properties in Hyderabad, Chennai and other six places, while four bank lockers were yet to be opened, the official said.
The assets so far unearthed included a posh independent house in Hyderabad worth Rs 1 crore, two more houses in Mahbubnagar district, a commercial complex, two flats, tens of acres of agricultural land, 250gm of gold, 10kg of silver articles and Rs 12 lakh in postal savings bonds, the DG said.
Investigation into the case is continuing and more assets are expected to be discovered once the bank lockers are opened, the release added.
