Not the progress I voted for

Not the progress I voted for

Sir,

As a liberal, intelligent, Indian male, I must place on record the utter distaste I feel when reading the news about the bad state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh. Ever since the new CM has been sworn in, (He was a  man whom nobody voted for, because he never stood for an election) hell has literally broken loose in the state.

I strongly protest against this so-called anti-Romeo law. It negates the fundamental right for any adult human being to choose a partner of his or her preference. The only way that diversity and a cosmopolitan culture can flourish is when the offensive barriers of caste, class and religion are broken down. This so-called anti-Romeo ruling that has people harass  consenting youngsters who are just walking down the street or hanging out at a park is anti-people.
Is this the ‘progress’ that we young Indians who chanted ‘Modi Modi’ a couple of years ago wanted? Is this the ‘progress’ young India voted for?

Certainly not me. Certainly not my fellow friends in the college.

Yours Truly
