Teachers or Cheaters: what backbone?

Teachers or Cheaters: what backbone?

Sir

Education is the backbone of development. It is an important tool for the upliftment of the society. These lines are universal and common to all but if we see at the ground level people are deprived of it.

There are many schools and colleges that provide education to children but we cannot deny  a fact that there are loopholes in the education system.

In everyday newspaper we read about wrong treatment done to the person and the patient died, collapse of building because of the lack of knowledge of the architecture, there are people who hold important position like ministers without having knowledge leading to the decline of the nation.

It is not that these people are illiterate or uneducated, but when they were students they did not pay attention to their studies and cheated in the exams and got promoted,  thus they are not aware of certain things and are not able to take right decisions.

It is my own experience when I went to the examination centre for my exams.  There  I saw  several ‘teachers’ who encouraged students to cheat and were shamelessly asking students to pay  Rs 500 to be allowed to copy. There students came with armed with their  notes to write down the exam and when the checking  (inspection) team came these ‘teachers’ usde to help students in hiding their cheating notes.

And there was so much of noise there that one could not concentrate on paper. It was an injustice done to those who had  prepared and had studied  for the exam. I don’t mind if i get 50 percent with my hard work and labour, but when I saw some of my ‘peer group’ scoring more than me because of the cheating, I get frustrated with this education system.

It is a shame that AKU is also not able to provide a appropriate environment for the students to take their exams.

We talk about quality education, we send messages to different people to make people aware but when it comes to practicing in our daily life, we ignore it.

Schools and the colleges need to ensure that there are strict rules during the exam and cheating in exam should not be allowed, only those students should be promoted who are eligible.

Getting goods grades on the paper is not going to help in any way neither the particular individual nor the nation. We need to think for our future and for the future of our nation as well.
