On 21st February Thursday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled two new buildings IGNOU as well as the buildings of Aryabhatta Knowledge University together in Patna. At the same time, the Bihar government has decided to appoint non-academic staff in the state universities by the ‘Employees Selection Commission’. On recommendation of the University service commission, retired teachers of the University will also get the benefit of the seventh pay commission.
On this occasion, Nitish Kumar said that Patliputra University and Maulana Mazharul Haq will also be made in educational field of Mithapur. Research on river is being done in NIT but this university is different from the other universities. Therefore, there should be more emphasis on research here. There should also be work on the system of rivers in Aryabhatta Knowledge University.
CM also announced to develop Aryabhatta University as Center of Excellence and to open several centers of various disciplines. He said that special education will be done for knowledge of subjects such as river system, journalism, geography, stem cells and philosophy along with nanotechnology.
In the inaugural function, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that the university will join the few states of Bihar by applying the 7th Pay Commission for the teachers and the educated employees. For this, the state will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 436 Crore every year. The Bihar government has made a provision of spending 34 thousand 800 Crores on education out of the total budget of 2 Lakh Crores this year. 5 Thousand 253 Crores will be spent on higher education and Rs. 23 Thousand 528 Crores for primary education.
He also added that that earlier this area was flooded, now it has become an education hub due to national level educational institutions like Chanakya Law University, NIFT, Chandragupta Management Institute and Aryabhatta Gyan University.
