Today we moved out to check how many people out there shouting for equality exactly know about Football Women FIFA World Cup.
Football Women FIFA World Cup has started in 1991 in China, currently with 24 countries participating in it. So far USA is on lead with 3 titles and Germany winning the title for two times.
We interviewed people in many different places like coaching institutes, malls, parks and streets. Considering these kinds of places as our youth seems more interested in Football, so we tried to know that whether they are aware of the counterpart’s football World Cup.
We tried more but only 9 people seemed interested in answering us. We asked simple questions like “who is the captain of Indian Football Team?”, “who is the captain of Women Football Team?” and “which country is hosting Women FIFA World Cup this year?” But shockingly nobody could tell the correct answer except one girl. However out of 9 people only two mid-aged men expressed that Football is a wonderful game and girls participating in it should get more popularity (to which we completely agreed). Also one tried to answer (though he gave the wrong one) but seems not to be sure about it. Nobody asked us for the correct answer, making it obvious that they don’t care about it. I thanked that one girl who knew the answer for actually supporting the girls. At least she bothers to know about it.
This interview was still limited to urban area, but the case is worse in the villages. And the worst for girls who wants to play this game. Generally the parents of these girls have a different opinion on this game. They feel that this game will make girls weaker and also a joke in society when they will go out in pubic grounds wearing shorts and t shirt to practice. There are many cases where boys of that particular area harass these girls for playing in short clothes and that also a game of boys. These girls face a bundle of problems from the outsiders but the main hurdles are their own family. Especially the mothers worry for the times when girls are menstruating. And the father looks at the game as a game of boys.
Still after facing so many hurdles, there is Indian Women Football Team that plays for the nation.
