Yoga to be added in the curriculum from next academic year
A proposal to include Yoga in the educational curriculum from the next academic year has been sent to HRD ministry (Human Resource Development Ministry) by Union Ayush (Ministry of Ayurved, Yoga& Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) Minister Shripad Yesso Naik.
As soon as this passes, it will allow Yoga to be a part of Physical Education curriculum from the 2020 – 2021 academic years. As a concern towards the health of school going children, Physical Training Classes is given to student. Also for the government schools it is a good initiative as it will help for the good healthcare of poor children. Still a question for those government schools who have never seen a teacher specially in states like U.P and Bihar. The step has been taken as the World Yoga Day is just at the corner.
On this summer solstice people come out of their houses with mats and do some Yoga. This day, an important one, is believed to be the origin of Yogic Science according to Indian mythology. It is the longest day of the year with sun rising the earliest and sets lately in the Northern Hemisphere. According to the famous mythologist and author, Arthur George, this day has special significance in many parts of the world as on this day there is a natural support for those pursuing spiritual practices.
On 11 December 2014, Under United Nations General Assembly a total of 177 countries co-sponsored the resolution which is the highest number of co-sponsors ever for any UNGA resolution. The number of countries hosting programmes as a part of International Yoga Day has now hiked up to almost 200 from 177.
