Good news for Bihar  students

UGC has become a partner of two Muzaffarpur Universities. Now the students don’t need to go out for their higher studies. UGC has selected two universities from Muzaffarpur– Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) and Purnea University as its academic partners under the recently launched ‘Paramarsh’ scheme.

The Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Ramesh Pokhriya Nishant launched new scheme (Paramarsh scheme) of the University Grant Commission (UGC). Initially 71 universities and 391 colleges with National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC) score of 3.26 and above will mentor five colleges each.

Rajesh Singh, Vice-chancellor of the two universities, said proposals for becoming mentors from more institutions have been invited by the UGC under the scheme Paramarsh, as per local news.

The parameters for becoming mentors include teaching-learning and evaluation, infrastructure and learning resources, research, innovation and extension, curricular aspects, governance, leadership and management, student support and progression, institutional values and best practices.

Singh said the objective of Paramarsh programme is improving the quality of education. “The scheme will also help students in various ways. Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided to the mentoring institutions. It also has the option of appointing an expert, who can be paid a fellowship amount of Rs 31,000 per month,” he added.
