Climatic change is at its utmost level and because of this, agriculture dependent Bihar is facing a lot of misery. Our ecosystem is stressed with conditions like high temperature, glaciers and snow covers are shrinking. Sea ice is retreating, seas are warming, rising and becoming more acidic, aquatic animals are dying because of polluted water bodies and the layer of ground water is decreasing and many more.
So, this year on the occasion of “Bihar Prithvi Diwas” department of Environment, Forest and Climatic change has decided that everyone should take pledge to protect environment on 9th of August.
Around 3.58 crore people including all government and semi government offices, boards, corporations, schools, Panchayti Raj Institutions, Urban Local, Bodies and government funded bodies have been asked to organize a 10-15 minutes program in their offices.
Other than this, Private and government schools teachers and students, employees and the members of Self-Help-Group (SHG) under the jeevika and a world bank-funded livelihood program have also been asked to take 11 points pledge related to save environment.
Beside these things, there is also a grand launch of an awareness program “Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyaan” on the same day at Bapu Sabhagar where CM Mr. Nitish Kumar will make Biharis aware of the motto of “Jal-Jeevan Abhiyaan” which is going to be launched this Independence Day. Ministers and senior officials of 12 departments connected to “Jal- Jeevan Abhiyaan” will be present at the main event.
Big TV screens are being put up in all 534 block headquarters and 38 district headquarters for the telecast and webcast of the CM’s vision speech across the state.
