Every year, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna is celebrated on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Lord Shri Krishna was born at midnight in Rohini Nakshatra. Sri Krishna is considered as one of the most powerful human incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
The picture that emerges in our mind as soon as the name of Lord Krishna comes are peacock feathers on the forehead, Shri Krishna with flute in his hand, green field with beautiful flowers.
There is an epic related to Morpankha on the forehead of Lord Krishna. It says that there were many peacocks in the palace of Radha Rani. The peacocks of the palace also danced with her while she danced to the tune of Load Krishna’s flute. One day while dancing the feather of a peacock fell on the ground, Lord Krishna lifted it and decorated it on his forehead. The peacock feather on Lord Krishna’s forehead is considered to be a sign of Radha’s love.
There is also a similar astrological calculation that Kalsarpa had a defect in Lord Krishna’s horoscope. Therefore he always wore peacock feathers in his crown. We all know that there is enmity between peacocks and snakes. Therefore, wearing a peacock crown on the forehead reduces the defect of Kalsarpa.
Bal Gopal is very fond of Makhan. It says that on the night Kanha (Lord Krisha) was born, the gopis of Nanda village dreamed that Kanha is asking for Makhan from them. Makhan –Misri must be included in Load Krishna’s enjoyment. It is believed that by offering Makhan Misri, one gets health.
Lord Krishna is very fond of a yellow color. Because it is a symbol of love and quietness and therefore, he mostly wear a yellow dhoti (dress).
