As the Indian government readies itself to embrace the wonders of 5 G technology, another new phrase is waiting to be introduced in the India Inc lexicon by creative spin doctors: ‘India’s Techade”
This week, for those of our readers who missed it, the ‘ sixth ‘anniversary’ of the Digital India programme was observed. It was an apt stage for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to affirm that it is a potent the instrument for ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ or ‘Self-reliant India’.
The Prime Minister evoked his mantra of Minimum Government – Maximum Governance and explained how Digital India is empowering the common citizen by reducing the gap between government and people, system and facilities, problems and solutions, according to a release from the PMO.
The Prime Minister said the digital solutions that India has prepared in the Corona period are a topic of discussion and attraction all over the world today. One of the world’s largest digital contact tracing app, Aarogya Setu has helped a lot in preventing corona infection. He added that many countries have also shown interest in India’s COWIN app for vaccination.
A ‘mission’ to introduce broadband internet in villages under Bharat Net Scheme is in process. Rural youth can connect with high-speed internet for better services and education through PM WANI access points. Affordable tablets and digital devices are being offered to students across the nation. Production Linked Subsidies are being offered to electronic companies towards this goal.
Digitalization also helped maintaining the connecting bridge between buyers and sellers. With the help of apps like E-Haat, Ms Anupama Dubey from Varanasi, could continue selling her traditional silk sarees, also equipping herself with digital pads and stylus enabled herself to make new designs with more ease and creatively.
At a time when the fellow citizens, affected by the pandemic needed help, digital money transaction apps enabled the flow of thousands of crores of rupees to the bank accounts of the needful.
Helping the farmers, the government’s scheme PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, has deposited more than one lakh crore to the farmers of India. Amidst the pandemic, farmers like Prahlad Borghad from Maharashtra sold goods in better price and also completely diminishing the transport cost with the use of apps like e-Naam app.
There are several other schemes under ‘ Digital India ‘ which are continuously planned.
The government is looking fervent to invest more in the digital sector in this decade. Preparing India for the 5G technology and facilitating the idea of digital empowerment, the government is looking forward to dubbing this decade as “ India’s Techade “.
