The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in India had an exciting time earlier this week, as they celebrated the installation of two new Provincials and their leadership teams on June 1, the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Installation of the new Province Leadership Team of Patna Province, Sister Latika Kottuppallil, Provincial; Sister Basanti Lakra and Sister Suchita Kullu, Vice Provincials; and Board members Sister Josephine Kisku and Sister Usha Saldanha took place in Nazareth Convent, Mokama on June 1, 2022.

A day earlier, Sisters, Novices, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Associates and Candidates gathered to express their gratitude and appreciation for the outgoing Patna Province Leadership Team and Board Members, Sister Philomena Kottoor, Sister Amelia Moras, Sister Gracy Mlakuzhyil, Sister Joel Urumpil and Sister Susan Tudu.

Sisters from near and far communities, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Associates and Novices gathered together  in the convent chapel. The new Leadership Team and Father Robert Kumar, Parish Priest of Mokama, were led to the altar with an entrance dance. During the Holy Mass, Father Robert specially prayed for Sister Latika and her team and blessed them.

Sister Philomena  presented her successor with a statue of Good Shepherd, wishing her to be a good shepherd to the Sisters. Sister Susan handed over a basket full of fruits symbolizing a wish for  their ministry to be fruitful.

Later, Sister Latika left for Patna , where the Provincial Hose is located, with Sister Philomena , Sister Mercy and Sister Lucy.

She was welcomed to the provincial house with arti and garland. After lunch, Sister Philo and Sisters present in the provincial house accompanied her to the provincial office. Thereafter, during a short prayer service, Sister Latika was blessed by the Sisters, and Sister Philomena handed over the key to the office.

The new leadership of the Bangalore Province, Sister Mary Margaret Nirmala, Provincial; Sister Vijaya Chalil, Vice-Provincial; and Board members Sister Vimala Rani, Sister Ann Moyalan and Sister Elizabeth Jaya Rani, were installed  in a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Father Joseph Mathias SJ, former Rector of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore.

After the celebration Sister Mary Margaret Nirmala was handed the key to the Provincial Office.

Earlier, the Province expressed its gratitude to Sister Amrita, outgoing Provincial and team members , Sister Beena Chirackal, Vice-Provincial, and the Board members, Sister Manisha Azhakathu, Sister Mary Margaret Nirmala and Sister Jessie Saldanha.
