Good news for the medical students as The Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) at Gaya has been allowed to introduce postgraduate teaching in gynaecology.
The secretary of Union ministry of health and family welfare issued the notification last week regarding this purpose. College principal Dr. H G Agrawal said “we received the letter for this on Thursday”.
As per the official communication, the college has been allowed to admit two students in PG course in each academic session. Initially, the permission has been granted for five years starting February 2019. The college will have to apply for the renewal before the expiry of the five-year period, the letter stated according to local news.
The official letter further states that before giving recognition to the PG course, the apex body of the medical education in the country considered the compliance report dated August 14 last submitted by the college and the compliance verification assessment reported dated November 2 last.
Dr. Agrawal welcomed the decision and hoped similar recognition for PG teaching in other areas of medical education would also be given in near future.
“Almost 89% of the teaching positions in the college are full. Efforts are being made to recruit faculty members for the remaining 11% teaching position in the college. The 11% deficiency was well within the permissible limit,” the principal said about the faculty strength of the college. Similarly, in respect of resident doctors, 92% of the posts are full.
The principal said the continuing medical education programme for updating the teachers and students with the latest development in different branches of medical science are held in the college every month.
