The Jungle Raj has never left Bihar, and land mafia calls the shots. In a horrific three hours, adults and children were terrorized as a section of the ‘public’ attacked a demolition team and burnt down the bulldozers. Eyewitness report from Deedar and Yogesh
Residents of Krishna Nagar in Digha-Rajiv Nagar area went berserk when the police went tried to demolish the illegal construction in the area.
Public attacked the police and burned 3 JCBs (bulldozers) along with a police vehicle. The violence did not end after burning the vehicles. The police tried to control the situation but public burst out in anger and began throwing bricks and stones. To control the violence the officer in charge then ordered to do aerial firing but the situation became worse. They carelessly continued to throw stones. Around 8-10 constables and a camera person from ETV news channel got badly hurt. The struggle between the police and the crowd longed for hours.
During the afternoon time I was moving towards the area when I saw thousands of people chasing the policemen back to Digha Thana. They were also abusing the policemen. It was impossible to stop such a massive crowd. At that time the crowd did not even let the media to report.
One of my friends was filming the incident (see video, click on link) and suddenly he was hit with a piece of brick. Somehow he managed to escape as they were aggressively snatching the phones.
The police team from Rajiv Nagar thana and Digha thana was together struggling to stop the violence and protect the innocent public. The situation came under control when they got help from the riot control team. Both the thanas turned into war zones.
The crowd blocked the Digha-Ashiyana road. They even threatened the auto drivers to stop taking passengers.
The ruckus in Digha disturbed the traffic even between Digha and Kurji. Students of Don Bosco School, May Flower and St. Xavier’s college waited in the campus itself as they couldn’t go home and were frightened.
Locals said that the police came for demolition of slums in Krishna nagar. If they are an illegal construction so is in Rajiv nagar. But, the court hasn’t taken any action against the illegal construction in Rajiv nagar.
The Senior Suprerintendent of Police Mannu Maharaj informed while saying “This incident is a result of rumours which were spread around the residents of Krishna nagar. The JCBs were sent for the demolition of illegal construction in a particular area which is around 4 acres but not the entire area. The land mafias influenced the residents about the demolition of houses. We have got some names of those connected with the land mafia and are looking forward to arrest them. No one in the public was harmed but few of our men are badly hurt.”
After the incident the incident few men said that they got the information that the police has come for the demolition of the entire area. Anyone would have believed that after seeing 3 JCBs demolishing a house.
It took 3-4 hours to get everything normal in Digha. It is the land mafias who are at fault. They are responsible for this massive incident.
Now you will say Nitish is not responsible for Jungle Raj. The people who were throwing stones were the junglees.
But if the same things happened if Laloo or RJD was in power, then you would give Laloo all the blame!
Jai Ho!
