Sir,
India is in the list of developing countries. It gets aid from other developed countries. There are lots of problems here, especially for the marginalised. Many people are unemployed. Many do not get enough salary for their work. They are suppressed under the debts, owed to rich people. Mostly their families and children suffer from malnutrition; they go to bed without having food.
These days we see how the price of each grocery item is touching the sky. Buying vegetables makes holes in the pocket of the common person.
Middle class people are also finding it difficult to maintain their expenses. But what about the poor and marginalised? If the answer is that they are helped through various government policies, then I would like to ask how many of these do get benefit? Do the policies actually reach them?
Despite India being an agricultural country there is a shortage of food. Is it true?
I have been looked at stories in various media that many packets of food grain get destroyed because of the carelessness of the governments at the state and the centre.
One story was that certain corrupt people put water on the sacks of wheat meant for PDS so that they get spoiled and then this grain could be sold in low price to distilleries.
One one hand farmers do not get the actual price for their crops, on the other, just because of a few corrupt people, many have to suffer hunger and malnutrition. I am not totally blaming the government. We, being the citizens of India are also responsible for such corruption, because we remain silent .
If we and the government together are careful about what is going around, and then I believe that many sacks of food grains will reach the right place, and many stoves will be cooking food.
When no grains will be wasted then surely the price will also decrease and it will be good for all.
Yours truly
