Sir,
The Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Iqbal Ahmed Ansari, inaugurated the three-day Bihar International Film Festival on Friday. Several students thronged to the venue.
The festival has been organised by the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Limited.
Justice Iqbal in his inaugural address said films are the most powerful and effective medium of communication within the society and to understand other cultures. Shivchandra Ram, minister of art, culture and youth, along with principal secretary Chaitanya Prasad were also present at the inauguration.
The festival opened with the Spanish “La Plaga” directed by Neus Ballús at Adhiveshan Bhavan. Two documentaries – “Amar” and “Under Pillow” – were screened followed by an open discussion chaired by the president of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Shailendra Sinha and cine expert and chairman of Rang Maati R.N. Dash.
It is a good thing that such festivals are now being held in Patna. It will be an eye-opener to young people, as well as satisfy the intellectual cravings of many film and art lovers. Film is not only for consumption. They are for discussion. They carry messages. Such events enhance the quality of life in the city and boost up the lifestyle of the Bihar capital.
Yours truly
