If you are a college student with a modest budget, and still want something with both pizzaz and value for money, you may want to check out the latest baby from TVS, and she’s called the Radeon.

After many cryptic tweets and teasers, TVS has finally launched its all-new commuter motorcycle in India today. Called the TVS Radeon, the 110cc motorcycle is priced at Rs 48,400 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 531 less than its closest competitor, the Honda CD 110 Dream DX.

Targeted towards what TVS likes to call “millennials of middle India”, the Radeon comes with a no-nonsense design with some premium touches. For starters, it gets a uniquely designed fuel tank with knee pads, something which TVS earlier teased us with just before the launch. There’s also copious amounts of chrome all over the motorcycle, including the carrier, exhaust, crash guard and the rear shocks.

Other than that, the Radeon sports a pretty conventional design, with the exception of a large textured seat, which TVS claims to be the largest in the segment.

The bike, says another review, has been designed for what the ‘the discerning, productive Indian’, located in the small towns. The company says that the said customer resides in small towns across India.

The Radeon is powered by a 109.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that develops 8.4PS at 7,000rpm and 8.7Nm at 5,000rpm. The claimed fuel economy is 69.3kmpl. While the engine is similar to other 110cc TVS offerings, the Radeon uses a new single downtube frame with the engine as a stressed member.

TVS says that the seat has been designed to ensure comfort over long distances. Extensive work has gone into getting the length and width of the seat right. The telescopic suspension and 5-step adjustable, twin shock absorbers have also been tuned to offer a good balance between ride quality and handling, adds TVS.

The Radeon is the first motorcycle in the segment to get Synchronized Braking Technology or SBT as TVS calls it. The bike runs on 18-inch wheels shod with Durable Grip tyres for enhanced grip and longevity, according to TVS.

The Radeon comes with a host of practical features to aid commuting in tier II and III cities. This includes a twin-pod analogue instrument console, a USB port which is placed right beside it, a side-stand indicator with a beeper, Synchronized Braking Technology and Duragrip tyres wrapped around 18-inch alloys. True to its positioning, the Radeon gets a healthy ground clearance of 180mm.

The TVS Radeon is available in four colour options and comes with a five-year warranty.
