On 27th September, a college level Written Quiz on ‘Cultural Tourism in India was organized by the Department of Geography, Patna Women’s College on the occasion of ‘World Tourism Day’.
The Department of Geography conducts an Add-on Certificate Course ‘Travel and Tourism Management’ and every year celebrates this day by organizing some program. This year a quiz contest was held. Around 200 students from different departments of the college participated in it. The quiz questions were based on various themes related to the focal theme of the event. They include tourism destinations of cultural, religious and historical importance; socio-cultural events like festivals and fairs, performing art forms- music, dances and paintings, language and literature; cultural heritage, local cuisine; dresses and so on.
The main purpose of organizing this program was to generate awareness among the students about the cultural wealth and ethnic diversities of India with special reference to the tourism sector. The event was organized under the supervision of the course coordinator Dr. Amrita Chowdhury and the Head of Department, Dr. Debjani Sarkar Ghose.
